The EUDXF Board is happy to announce that the EUDXF will support the October 2020 Sable Island CY0C DXpedition.
A very experienced team will travel to Sable Island CY0C in october this year. Team members are Murray WA4DAN – Team Leader, Bob K4UEE, San K5YY, Will AA4NC, Jay K4ZLE, John N8AA, Pat N2IEN, Lee WW2DX, Dan W4DKS and Lou N2TU.
Currently Sable CY0 is ranked #56 on Clublog, but more notably in Europe, Sable is ranked #41 on CW and #16 on digital.
The team team estimates that we will make 40,000 to 50,000 contacts on all bands, 160-10 meters.
They will also have a two meter EME station active (WW2DX operator).
Equipment will consist of Elecraft K3’s, Icom 7300’s and Elecraft KPA-500 amplifiers. High power bandpass filters will be incorporated on each station. DX Engineering is a major supporter of this DXpedition. Antennas will consist of Hygain monoband yagi’s on 10-20 meters with verticals and directive wire antennas on 160-30 meters. WW2DX will be using two large yagi’s on EME.
The 2020 Sable Island DXpedition will be the largest and most expensive DXpedition ever to Sable Island. The cost for just the Sable Aviation flights to the island and the Parks Canada charge for use of the Visitor Quarters is $65,000.
Parks Canada has approved this 2020 DXpedition to Sable Island. Sable Aviation will provide air transportation. There is no runway on Sable Island so the Britten Norman Islander aircraft must land on a firm part of the south facing beach.
The team will provide LOTW upload within a month of the completion of the CY0 DXpeditio and they will answer all QSL card requests. K5DHY will handle the OQRS system and WA4DAN will be the direct QSL manager.
