EUDXF supports the Baker & Howland 2018 DXpedition

The EUDXF board has decided to support the Baker Island 2018 DXpedition.

Despite the expectedly poor propagation towards EU, the short opening times and the very little chances to catch KH1 on the low bands the board of directors of the European DX Foundation decided to support the upcoming DXpedition to Baker Island. The board is confident the KH1 team will try to serve all and at least give a new one to as many DXers as possible.

Baker Island is an uninhabited atoll located just north of the equator in the central Pacific Ocean about 3,090 km (1,920 mi) southwest of Honolulu. The island lies almost halfway between Hawaii and Australia. Its nearest neighbor is Howland Island, 42 mi (68 km) to the north-northwest; both have been territories of the United States since 1857, though the United Kingdom considered them part of the British Empire between 1897 and 1936.

Located at 0°11′41″N 176°28′46″W, the island covers 2.1 km (0.81 sq mi), with 4.8 km (3.0 mi) of coastline. The climate is equatorial, with little rainfall, constant wind, and strong sunshine. The terrain is low-lying and sandy: a coral island surrounded by a narrow fringing reef with a depressed central area devoid of a lagoon with its highest point being 8 m (26 ft) above sea level.

EUDXF supports April 2018 DXpedition to St Brandon. – 3B7

The EUDXF Board is happy to share their decision to support the April 2018 DXpedition to St Brandon – 3B7.

Although St Brandon 3B7 does not fully complies with the EUDXF guidelines set for DXpedition support, the combination of the Clublog most wanted position in the top 75 and the very experienced team responsible for earlier succesfull DXpeditions to Juan de Nova FT4JA and Tromelin FT4TA made it easy for the board to give a possitive answer on the request for support received from the team.

The team for this operation on St Brandon island is made of previous operators from FT4TA and FT4JA; skilled operators who bring their knowledges to make of this operation a success and a wonderful experience for everybody.

3Y0Z Thank You

3Y0Z Thank You

Dear Members of the European DX Foundation,

On behalf of the Bouvet Island DXpedition-2018, thank you for your kind
contribution.

Please accept this small gift (download the attachment) to recognize your DX
Club/Organization’s important and generous contribution toward the Bouvet
DXpedition-2018 expenses.  As you probably know, this is likely the most
expensive DXpedition ever attempted.

It is dedicated and generous DX organizations like yours that make
DXpeditions such as this possible, and we are pleased that you are now one
of our important supporters.

One of the goals of the Bouvet Island DXpedition-2018 is to provide at least
one QSO to every DXer who needs this #2 ranked DXCC entity for an all-time
new one (ATNO).   Also, we want to provide as many band/mode contacts needed
by DXers as we possibly can.   We believe we have the plan, the team and the
equipment to make this happen!

Your contribution will help make all this a reality for not only our team of
DXpeditioners, but for DXers, worldwide…THANK YOU!

See you in the pileups!

For the team,
Ralph Fedor – KØIR
Bob Allphin – K4UEE
Erling Wiig – LA6VM
